Torrent Power’s Ultra-Supercritical Plant to Strengthen India’s Energy Mix

announced that its upcoming plant will adopt ultra-supercritical technology, which is more efficient and emits less carbon compared to traditional coal plants. The project is expected to create 8,000–10,000 jobs during the construction phase and provide around 1,500 permanent jobs once operational. According to Vice Chairman and MD Jinal Mehta, the initiative aligns with India’s goal of adding 80 GW of coal-based capacity by 2032, ensuring a reliable base load supply to stabilise the grid while supporting the country’s growing energy needs.
