Varun Beverages to Acquire South Africa’s Twizza for ₹1,119 crore
Varun Beverages Ltd. (
VBL
) has approved the acquisition of a 100% stake in South Africa-based Twizza Proprietary Ltd. at an enterprise value of ZAR 2,095 million (approximately ₹1,118.7 crore), as disclosed via a regulatory filing. The transaction will be executed through VBL’s South African subsidiary, The Beverages Company Proprietary Ltd. (BevCo), and will require regulatory and other approvals, including clearances from competition authorities in South Africa, Botswana, and Eswatini.
The company expects the deal to close by June 30, 2026, after which Twizza will become a step-down subsidiary of Varun Beverages. Twizza manufactures and distributes its own branded non-alcoholic beverages and operates three backward-integrated manufacturing facilities in Cape Town, Queenstown, and Middelburg, with combined capacity comprising five preform lines and one closure line.
Operationally, Twizza reported turnover of ₹901.9 crore for the financial year ended June 30, 2025, and recorded sales volumes of 71 million cases in FY25, with net revenue also stated at ₹901.9 crore. Following the announcement, VBL shares closed 0.77% lower at ₹469.95, and the stock was reported to be down 28% year-to-date in 2025.
