Vedanta Gets ₹71.16 Cr Fine for Fly Ash Breach, Plans Legal Action

VEDL
has received a ₹71.16 crore environmental fine from the Odisha State Pollution Control Board for alleged violations related to unauthorized fly ash disposal. The notice, dated 10 April 2025, was issued under the Fly Ash Notification by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). In response, Vedanta has stated in its BSE and NSE filing that it strongly disagrees with the allegations and will pursue appropriate legal remedies. The company argues that the decision was taken without fully considering its compliance records and previous submissions. Vedanta added that the delay in disclosure was due to internal verification and that it expects no material financial impact from this order. The case emerges at a time when regulatory focus on environmental practices and ESG compliance is intensifying across industries. Disclaimer: Investing involves risks.
