Welspun Enterprises faces ₹18 crore GST demand, plans to appeal before Tribunal

WELENT
has received a ₹9 crore GST demand along with an equal penalty of ₹9 crore from the Tamil Nadu state GST appellate authority for FY2018–19, linked to alleged ineligible input tax credit claims. The company stated that it will appeal the order before the Tribunal, asserting that the demand is not maintainable and will have no material impact on its financial or operational performance. The order, issued on October 23, 2025, adds a regulatory layer at a time when the company recently approved plans to raise up to ₹1,000 crore through convertible warrants at ₹525 each to support growth initiatives. With a diversified presence across transportation, water, wastewater, tunnelling, and oil & gas exploration, Welspun Enterprises continues to strengthen its infrastructure footprint while addressing regulatory challenges proactively.
