Recent LPG Cylinder Price Cut (Effective September 1, 2025) Overview of the Latest Revision On September 1, 2025, oil marketing companies reduced the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by ₹51.50 nationwide. In New Delhi, the new retail price is ₹1,580, down from ₹1,631.50. Prices for the 14.2 kg domestic cylinder remain unchanged. Historical Trend of Commercial Cylinder Cuts - February 2025: ₹7 cut - April 2025: ₹41 cut - June 2025: ₹24 cut - July 2025: ₹58.50 cut - August 2025: ₹33.50 cut - September 2025: ₹51.50 cut This sequence mirrors easing global LPG benchmarks and reflects government support measures to shield consumers from volatile international prices. Government Support to OMCs - Union Cabinet approved a ₹30,000 crore compensation package for IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL in August 2025. - The package is disbursed over 12 installments to cover under-recoveries on regulated domestic LPG sales. Market Implications - Commercial users (hotels, restaurants, MSMEs) gain from lower input costs. - OMC margins remain under pressure, though compensation mitigates near-term losses. - Stock watchers will balance margin compression against government support when evaluating IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL shares.
