Infosys: Is the IT Sector Finally Finding Its Footing?

Indian IT stocks are showing relative strength while the broader market remains cautious. On October 14, buying interest in Infosys, TCS and !HCLTECH helped limit the downside in benchmark indices. But does a sector rebound automatically mean a fresh uptrend? Not necessarily. Here are three factors I would track in Infosys: 1. Client spending Demand from banking, retail and other large international clients will influence the pace of new technology contracts. 2. Artificial intelligence AI-related services could create new revenue opportunities, but investors also need to assess pricing pressure and the impact on traditional IT services. 3. Guidance and margins Management's revenue outlook, operating margins and deal conversion will be more important than a single session of share-price strength. My view The recent recovery in IT stocks is encouraging, but confirmation should come from earnings and sustained buying participation. I would avoid assuming that the sector has entered a durable uptrend simply because prices have rebounded. The next question is whether Infosys can demonstrate improving demand and earnings visibility through the current results season.
