INFOSYS: IT STOCK SHOWS RELATIVE STRENGTH
Infosys is back on the radar after showing resilience during Monday's sharp market sell-off.
On September 28, the Nifty 50 declined 1.56% to 22,780.25, hitting a fresh three-month low. Against this backdrop, Infosys managed to close 0.30% higher at ₹1,003, making it one of just three Nifty 50 stocks to finish in positive territory.
This relative strength is worth watching.
The broader market was under pressure from higher crude prices, rising US Treasury yields, FII selling and weakness across banking and other cyclical sectors.
For Infosys, however, the key drivers remain company-specific: deal wins, large-deal pipeline, revenue growth, operating margins, discretionary technology spending and the pace at which AI-related demand converts into revenue.
Technical setup:
₹1,000 is now an important psychological level after Monday's close at ₹1,003.
A sustained move above ₹1,000, followed by a breakout above Monday's high with strong volume, could indicate that buyers are attempting to build a base despite weakness in the broader market.
On the downside, sustained trading below ₹1,000 would weaken the immediate relative-strength setup and could bring the recent lows back into focus.
One important observation: relative strength during a single weak session does not automatically establish a new trend. Confirmation through multiple sessions and volume will be important.
What I am watching:
• ₹1,000 psychological level
• Monday's high for breakout confirmation
• IT-sector relative strength
• Large-deal wins and order pipeline
• Operating-margin trajectory
• AI-led demand
• Volume confirmation
