Sensex, Nifty End Flat; Tata Consumer Jumps 7%

Sensex close: It ended at 73,598.67, down 8.08 points (0.01%), after opening lower. Nifty close: The Nifty50 closed at 22,749.75, down 3.45 points (0.02%), after being range-bound for most of the day. Top gainer:

led the Nifty50, up 6.78% to ₹1,000.00 after positive quarterly results. Other gainers: Bharti Airtel, Trent, BSE Ltd and Power Grid also gained, and Maruti and Eternal did well in the Sensex pack. Top loser: Asian Paints fell the most on the Nifty50, down 1.94% to ₹2,277.00. Other losers: Coal India (-1.73%), SBI (-1.63%), Grasim and TCS also lost ground. Sectors: Media rose about 3.6%, and pharma and realty gained 2-3%. Private banks and financial services were the biggest laggards, along with IT and oil & gas. Broader market: The Nifty Midcap 100 rose 1% and the Smallcap 100 jumped 2.70%, well ahead of the benchmarks. Crude: Oil fell on optimism that the US-Israeli war on Iran could move towards a resolution, easing supply concerns.
