MARUTI
reported a 34.8% year-on-year increase in domestic passenger vehicle sales to 1,76,971 units in August 2026, compared with 1,31,278 units a year earlier. The strong performance was supported by robust demand across its key models, with WagonR and Swift among the best-selling cars during the month.
WagonR sales rose around 39% YoY to 20,180 units, while Swift sales increased sharply by about 60% during August. Maruti Suzuki also maintained a strong presence in the country's top-selling car rankings, with several of its models featuring among the leading performers.
The strong monthly performance comes as India's auto market enters the festive season, traditionally a key period for vehicle demand. Industry-wide vehicle retail sales also reached a record August level, while consumers increasingly shifted towards CNG, hybrid and electric vehicles. Maruti's strong sales growth therefore highlights continued demand for its passenger vehicle portfolio despite changing fuel preferences and higher vehicle prices.#FundamentalViews
