TITAN
is stepping up its mechanical watchmaking and movement production as it targets a 25% share of India’s premium watch segment above ₹25,000. The company is expanding its in-house capabilities and launching new mechanical watches as rising incomes and premiumisation drive demand for higher-end timepieces.
Titan has launched the Vetra-branded Titan Automatics collection, priced between ₹48,000 and ₹55,000, using the company’s 7,000-series mechanical platform. Titan has been developing mechanical movements in-house since 2010 and is also working on higher-end technologies, including longer power reserves, improved accuracy and ultra-slim mechanical movements.
The premium push is already reflected in the Watches business. In the June quarter, Titan’s Watches division reported 21% growth in total income to ₹1,543 crore, while EBIT rose to ₹295 crore. Analogue watches grew in the mid-20% range, while smartwatches declined in the single digits. Titan is also looking to scale mechanical movement production through automation and precision manufacturing, with an eventual aim of making its movements available to other watchmakers.#EquityResearch
