enters the Nifty 50 on September 30, replacing Wipro Limited following the index’s semi-annual review.
The change is based on the companies’ six-month average free-float market capitalisation. BSE’s average was reported at ₹1,40,879 crore, compared with ₹55,930 crore for Wipro. Wipro moves to the Nifty Next 50.
Index-tracking funds will adjust their holdings to reflect the revised index composition. This may affect trading activity around the effective date, but index inclusion does not directly change a company’s revenue, profit or cash flow.
What I’m watching: Trading volumes around the rebalancing and how both stocks perform after the index change takes effect.
