Knowledge Marine: ₹279 Cr Green Tug Contract

has secured a ₹279.33 crore, 15-year contract from Mumbai Port Authority for a battery-operated electric green tug. The contract covers the chartering of a 60-ton bollard-pull capacity battery-operated electric tug, along with manning, operations, maintenance and technical management. The contract value is ₹279.33 crore including taxes and has a tenure of 15 years. The project will be executed through the company's subsidiary, Knowledge Shipyard Limited. This is the company's third Green Tug contract from Mumbai Port Authority. The long contract period gives the company visibility over a multi-year operating relationship rather than a one-time equipment sale. It also adds to the company's order book, which has moved above ₹1,300 crore following the contract. My view is that the contract should be assessed through its recurring operating economics. The headline ₹279.33 crore value is spread across 15 years, so the annual revenue contribution and operating margins are more relevant than the total contract value alone.
