Bridging the Digital Divide: India’s DPI and Global Digital Cooperation

The Government of India is expanding its global digital cooperation by partnering with 24 countries through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to promote the adoption of its Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and accelerate digital transformation worldwide. Building on the achievements of India Stack and its recognition at the 2023 G20 New Delhi Summit, these partnerships offer a structured framework for technical cooperation, capacity building, feasibility studies, and the deployment of population-scale solutions. To foster financial inclusion and efficient public service delivery across the Global South, India has conducted workshops showcasing key digital platforms like DigiLocker, e-Sanjeevani, e-Office, and e-Hospital, with concrete projects already underway in Kenya and Cuba. To support this global transition, India is facilitating knowledge sharing through technical exchanges with key agencies such as UIDAI, NeGD, NPCI, NIC, and C-DAC, alongside specialized DPI training under the ITEC program. The initiative is further backed by a newly approved Social Impact Fund (SIF), which offers financial and technical assistance for DPI pilot projects in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. Concurrently, the international expansion of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI)—now connected with payment networks across 10 countries—is streamlining cross-border transactions, reinforcing India’s leadership as a trusted partner in advancing inclusive digital ecosystems globally. $PROTEAN $BLS
