Gujarat Expands Ekta Nagar Tourism with 600-Passenger Luxury Cruise Near Statue of Unity

The Gujarat government has announced the launch of a new 600-passenger luxury cruise on the Narmada River near the Statue of Unity to meet growing tourist demand and enhance visitor experiences at Ekta Nagar. Set to begin commercial operations once regulatory and safety approvals are secured, this multipurpose floating venue substantially expands upon the existing 200-passenger vessel. Spanning 30 metres in length and 12 metres in width, the ship is designed for both scenic sightseeing and hosting large-scale corporate events, destination weddings, product launches, and cultural performances. Onboard amenities include a 250-seat dining area, a 5×4-metre performance stage, and decorative architectural lighting for evening cruises. By significantly upgrading regional tourism infrastructure, the initiative aims to establish Ekta Nagar as a premier global destination while opening up fresh opportunities for event tourism and hospitality. Managed under the Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority (SOUADTGA), the vessel's enhanced capacity will help diversify local tourism offerings beyond conventional sightseeing. Beyond transforming the riverfront experience, the project is expected to stimulate the broader state economy, generate local employment opportunities, and solidify Gujarat’s standing as a hub for world-class tourism infrastructure.
