GRSE secures a ₹32,000 crore Indian Navy contract
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (NSE: GRSE) signed a ₹32,000 crore contract with the Indian Navy on 2 November 2026 to construct five Next Generation Corvettes. The project is part of a larger ₹53,866.50 crore defence procurement covering eight warships, with the remaining three allocated to Goa Shipyard Limited. What happened? The five corvettes will be designed for advanced naval operations across air, surface and subsurface domains. Key details: Contract value for GRSE: ₹32,000 crore. Number of vessels: Five. Execution period: Nine years and four months from receipt of the first-stage payment. Customer: Indian Navy. The project includes advanced missile, weapon and sensor systems. My analysis This is a meaningful order for GRSE because it adds substantial long-term revenue visibility and strengthens its position in India's indigenous warship-building ecosystem. However, the ₹32,000 crore should not be viewed as immediate revenue. The project will be executed over several years, and revenue recognition will depend on construction milestones and delivery schedules.
