Electric commercial vehicles are one segment where I feel the shift towards EVs is becoming more practical rather than just being a future story.
Tata Motors has indicated that demand for its electric commercial vehicles remains strong, supported by a healthy order book across segments. In the first quarter itself, the company had more than 3,400 electric CV orders, building on the momentum seen during the second half of last year.
One important development to track is the supply side. Tata Motors has been facing a bottleneck in cells imported from China, which affected its Intra EV. Management expects this issue to be completely resolved by the end of the ongoing quarter. If that happens, it can help the company meet demand more efficiently.
Another point that caught my attention is the electric small commercial vehicle segment. Management believes the total cost of ownership of the Intra EV is becoming attractive compared with similar internal-combustion-engine vehicles.
For me, this is an important factor because commercial buyers generally focus heavily on running costs and economics. If EVs can offer a clear cost advantage along with improving supply and charging infrastructure, adoption in commercial vehicles can gradually become much stronger.
Learning Outcome: EV adoption in commercial vehicles depends not only on demand but also on total cost of ownership, reliable battery supply and whether the economics make sense for fleet operators.#StockInNews#WatchOutFor#EquityResearch#PersonalFinance#TrendingSectors
