DreamFolks Retreats from Domestic Lounges — What’s Next?

DreamFolks Services Ltd. shares were locked in a ~5% lower circuit today after the company officially exited its domestic airport lounge business, effective September 16, 2025. This move came amid losses of key contracts in recent months, and the company has labelled the change as “material.” Major lounge operators like Encalm Hospitality, Adani Digital, and Semolina Kitchens ended their contracts with DreamFolks. Banks and card issuers such as Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and IDFC First have already been moving away from DreamFolks for lounge-access related services. While domestic lounge services are shut down, DreamFolks says its global lounge network and other non-lounge services will continue. Impacts & Challenges Ahead The lounge business used to contribute a large part of DreamFolks’ revenues — up to ~93% of Indian revenue was from domestic lounge access. Losing this almost entirely means a major revenue drop. With operators integrating lounge access directly or partnering with alternate aggregators (like TFS / Elite Assist), DreamFolks is losing distribution and margin control. Market sentiment clearly turned negative: shares are down ~65% year-to-date, and this announcement triggered a further fall. What May Become of DreamFolks The company is likely to focus more on its global lounge business, seeking stability outside India where contracts are still intact. Diversification: DreamFolks may expand its “other services” more aggressively — offerings like airport transfers, meet & assist, premium customer experiences, and travel lifestyle services beyond lounge access. What Investors Should Watch How quickly DreamFolks can replace lost revenue: What proportion of domestic losses can be recouped via global operations or alternate services. Costs: With revenue falling in the lounge segment, managing fixed costs & operational levers will be crucial.
