Garware Hi-Tech Films plans ₹118 crore TPU expansion
Garware Hi-Tech Films Limited (NSE: GRWRHITECH) has signed an MoU with Lubrizol to develop and manufacture TPU-based film solutions in India.
The company plans to invest about ₹118 crore in the manufacturing platform, with full operations targeted by December 2026.
Key details
• The partnership focuses on thermoplastic polyurethane, or TPU, film solutions.
• The proposed investment is around ₹118 crore.
• The new platform is expected to be fully operational by December 2026.
• Management expects the project to support higher-value product offerings and improve the business mix.
My view
The interesting part is the move toward a more specialised product category rather than just adding commodity capacity.
If Garware can scale TPU films successfully, the benefit could come from a better product mix and potentially stronger margins. But an MoU and planned capex do not guarantee the expected returns. Customer adoption and capacity utilisation will be important.
What I’m watching next
I will watch for commissioning by December 2026, customer traction and whether the company reports a measurable improvement in margins after the new capacity ramps up.
Stance: Positive on the product-mix opportunity, but execution and utilisation will determine whether the ₹118 crore investment creates meaningful value.
Disclosure: I do not have any holding or position in the stock mentioned above.
