ICICI Bank delivers strong Q2 earnings growth
ICICI Bank Limited (NSE: ICICIBANK) reported Q2 FY27 standalone net profit of ₹14,843 crore, up 20.1% YoY. Net interest income increased 17.7% to ₹25,339 crore, while asset quality improved during the quarter. Key details • Net profit: ₹14,843 crore, up 20.1% YoY. • Net interest income: ₹25,339 crore, up 17.7% YoY. • Gross NPA ratio improved to 1.20% from 1.38% in the previous quarter. • Provisions declined 6.9% YoY to ₹851 crore. • Net interest margin moderated to 4.18% from 4.36% in Q1 FY27. My view The quarter looks strong because profit growth was supported by both business expansion and lower credit costs. The main point to watch is margins. NIM has slipped to 4.18%, and management has indicated that some pressure may continue into Q3. So while earnings and asset quality remain healthy, future profit growth will depend on how well the bank manages funding costs and loan pricing. What I’m watching next I will watch Q3 NIM, loan growth and whether the gross NPA ratio remains close to 1.2%. Stance: Positive on earnings and asset quality, but margin compression is the key risk to track. Disclosure: I do not have any holding or position in the stock mentioned above.
