Nifty Off Highs – 9 Heavyweights Down Over 25%

The Nifty 50 hit an all-time high of 26,277.35 on 27th Sept 2024. Exactly a year later, on 26th Sept 2025, the index closed at 24,654.70 – a decline of about 6%. But while the index fall looks moderate, several frontline stocks have taken a much deeper hit. Nifty Stocks Down More Than 25% (YoY): IndusInd Bank: -52% Trent: -44% TCS: -35% Tata Motors: -33% Bajaj Auto: -32% HCL Tech: -31% Asian Paints: -30% Infosys: -28%

WIPRO
-27% Why the Divergence? Global Tech Weakness → IT majors like Infosys, TCS, HCL Tech, and Wipro saw margin pressures and muted deal wins. Auto Sector Volatility → Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto corrected after strong rallies, as valuations cooled and global demand slowed. Consumer Discretionary Pressure → Asian Paints faced raw material cost headwinds and slower demand. Banking Challenges → IndusInd saw sharp valuation cuts on concerns over asset quality and competition. High P/E Reversal → Trent, one of the most expensive retail plays, corrected heavily after years of outperformance. Takeaway for Investors Even when the index looks stable, individual stock moves can be far more severe. Corrections open opportunities, but only for companies with strong fundamentals and long-term growth drivers. Diversification and tracking sector trends remain key to riding out volatility.
