Poonawalla Fincorp Q2 profit jumps to ₹375 crore

Poonawalla Fincorp Limited (NSE: POONAWALLA) reported Q2 FY27 net profit of ₹375 crore, more than five times the year-ago level. Assets under management reached ₹74,008 crore, while net interest income stood at ₹1,589 crore. Key details • Q2 FY27 PAT: ₹375 crore. • AUM: ₹74,008 crore. • Net interest income: ₹1,589 crore, up 12.3% QoQ. • Return on assets improved to 2.18%. • Gross NPA declined to 1.20%. My view The strongest part of the quarter is that profitability improved alongside asset growth and better reported asset quality. For an NBFC, faster AUM growth is useful only if credit costs stay controlled. The decline in gross NPA and improvement in ROA therefore matter more than the headline profit growth alone. What I’m watching next I will watch credit costs, net interest margin, AUM growth and whether gross NPA remains close to current levels as the loan book expands. Stance: Positive on earnings momentum and asset quality, but the sustainability of growth will depend on credit discipline. Disclosure: I do not have any holding or position in the stock mentioned above.
