SEBI Clears Adani Group in Hindenburg Case

SEBI has given a clean chit to Adani Ports & SEZ, Adani Power, Adani Enterprises, along with Gautam Adani, Rajesh Adani and others, dismissing allegations raised by Hindenburg Research. The regulator examined transactions linked to entities such as Milestone Tradelinks and Rehvar Infrastructure. SEBI concluded these were legitimate business dealings repaid with interest and did not qualify as fraudulent or manipulative under the laws applicable between FY18–FY23. A key point was whether they were related party transactions (RPTs). Under older LODR rules, only direct RPTs required disclosure. Since these were indirect, SEBI found no violation. Similarly, allegations of fund diversion or unfair practices were not proven. Why This Matters Closes one of the biggest corporate controversies in recent years. Removes regulatory overhang from Adani Group stocks. Could boost investor confidence, especially among foreign institutions. What to Watch Governance and disclosures by Adani Group under new, stricter regulations. Market reaction: renewed interest in Adani shares could follow, but sentiment recovery will take time. Any further challenges or responses from global stakeholders. This ruling offers regulatory clarity and may help the Adani Group strengthen its growth narrative after months of scrutiny.
