Why Bajaj Housing Finance Is Falling Despite Strong Fundamentals
Bajaj Housing Finance has fallen nearly 10 percent in just five trading sessions, hitting fresh 52-week lows. The sharp decline is not due to weakening fundamentals but largely because of a major promoter stake sale that created a sudden supply overhang in the market.
Bajaj Finance, the parent company, recently sold about 2–2.35 percent stake in Bajaj Housing Finance through a large block deal to comply with regulatory minimum public-shareholding norms. The deal was executed at a discount to the market price, which intensified selling pressure and triggered negative sentiment across investors.
Importantly, the business itself remains stable. Recent results show steady loan book growth, strong demand in the housing finance segment, and healthy asset-quality metrics. But with such a large block of shares hitting the market at once, the short-term technical outlook has weakened, pushing the stock into a downward trend.
Why the stock is falling
Big promoter stake sale created excess supply.
Block-deal pricing at a discount spooked investors.
Technical levels broke, accelerating selling pressure.
Near-term sentiment weakened despite strong fundamentals.
What could go right
Once the stake-sale overhang clears, liquidity and stability may improve.
Business fundamentals remain healthy, with no sign of credit stress.
Regulatory compliance now completed, reducing uncertainty.
Long-term growth in home-loans and LAP remains strong.
Verdict: Hold if invested; Wait for stability if entering
For existing investors, the correction seems sentiment-driven and not reflective of business weakness. For new investors, it may be better to wait for the stock to form a base and stabilise before considering an entry.
