📉 Risk Management Rules for Derivatives Trading

Derivatives trading (Futures & Options) offers high leverage but also high risk. Proper risk management is essential for long-term success. 1️⃣ Risk Small Capital Per Trade Never risk more than 1–2% of your total capital in a single trade. 2️⃣ Always Use Stop Loss Enter every trade with a predefined stop loss to limit losses and protect capital. 3️⃣ Avoid Excessive Leverage Leverage can magnify profits but also losses. Use leverage carefully and avoid overexposure. 4️⃣ Follow a Trading Strategy Trade based on a tested strategy or technical setup, not emotions or market noise. 5️⃣ Maintain Proper Risk–Reward Ratio Aim for at least 1:2 risk–reward. Risk ₹1 to potentially earn ₹2 or more. 6️⃣ Diversify Trades Avoid putting all capital in one trade or one stock. Spread risk across instruments or strategies. 7️⃣ Understand Option Greeks Option traders should understand Delta, Theta, Vega, and Gamma, as these impact option pricing and risk. 8️⃣ Avoid Overtrading Focus on quality setups rather than taking too many trades. 9️⃣ Be Careful During High Volatility Events Major announcements like RBI policy, Budget, or global news can cause sudden price swings. 🔟 Protect Capital First Successful traders focus on capital preservation before profit generation. 📌 Remember: Consistent profits in derivatives come from discipline, risk control, and patience.
