$BHEL Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has entered into a licence agreement for transfer of technology (LAToT) with the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad, a unit of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The agreement covers the manufacture of fused silica radar domes using the cold isostatic pressing and sintering route. Radar domes are critical components for seeker-based guidance systems in missiles, protecting sensitive sensors while allowing electromagnetic signals to pass through without distortion. DMRL, which has long-standing expertise in high-temperature alloys and advanced ceramics, has transferred this technology to BHEL to enable indigenous production of the domes.
