How Outside Bar / Expansion Candle works on charts

Outside Bar / Expansion Candle

WEBELSOLAR
An Outside Bar occurs when a candle's high is higher and its low is lower than those of the previous candle, creating a wider trading range. It represents an expansion in volatility and indicates that both buyers and sellers were active during the period. The closing position determines which side ultimately gained greater control. An Outside Bar closing strongly near its high can indicate bullish dominance, while one closing near its low can indicate stronger bearish pressure. These candles can appear during breakouts, reversals, news-driven movements or periods of increasing market volatility. The location of the candle is extremely important. An expansion candle at major support may signal aggressive buying, while one at resistance may indicate strong selling or a possible liquidity event. Volume can provide additional information about participation. However, an Outside Bar should not automatically be interpreted as a reversal signal. Traders should observe the following candles and whether the market sustains the direction of the expansion.
