PART 3 : How Ratio Analysis Helps Traders

In this series we are covering stock $RIIL This example will help you understand ratio analysis in detail. You can use the same method to analyze any stock for learning purposes. How Ratio Analysis Helps Traders Many people assume that ratio analysis is useful only for long-term investors. In reality, professional traders also rely on fundamental ratios, particularly for swing trading and positional trading. Stock Selection Traders often create a watchlist of companies with: High ROE Strong ROCE Low Debt-to-Equity Consistent Profit Margins Technical analysis is then used to identify optimal entry and exit points. Avoiding Weak Companies A bullish chart pattern can fail if the underlying business is fundamentally weak. Ratio analysis helps traders avoid companies with: High debt Declining profitability Poor liquidity Negative cash flows This reduces the likelihood of being caught in sharp declines caused by disappointing financial results. Earnings Season Professional traders monitor changes in key ratios after quarterly results. Improving profitability, better cash flow, or lower leverage can strengthen bullish sentiment, while deteriorating ratios may signal caution. Sector Rotation : Comparing ratios across companies within the same industry helps identify sector leaders. For example, among several banking stocks, traders may favor those with stronger profitability, better asset quality, and healthier capital positions.
