Bajaj Auto Nifty Top Loser Sept 3 2026 Auto Sector Rout

Bajaj Auto Limited

BAJAJ-AUTO
was the top loser in the Nifty 50 on Wednesday, September 3, 2026, declining sharply as auto stocks faced the most severe session of selling in the sector through the first week of September — a period when crude above $90, renewed US-Iran tensions and a stronger dollar simultaneously compressed the demand and cost outlook for two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturers. Bajaj Auto Limited leading the Nifty's loser board on September 3 stands in stark contrast to its operational momentum. The company has consistently delivered monthly volume growth above 10 per cent year on year through the first four months of FY27, with exports — which account for approximately 45 per cent of total volumes — remaining strong on the back of African and Latin American market expansion. Domestic three-wheeler volumes have grown every quarter for six straight quarters as commercial fleet electrification picks up pace. The stock's 52-week range runs from Rs 7,400 to Rs 12,774 — one of the widest absolute ranges among Nifty auto names. The current level near the lower half of that range reflects both the crude-driven compression of the broader auto sector and the specific concern that rising crude costs in African export markets — where Bajaj has the strongest franchise — could reduce affordability and slow the export volume growth that has been the stock's key re-rating driver. Q1 FY27 results showed revenue growth of 15 per cent year on year, with EBITDA margins holding above 19 per cent despite higher commodity costs — fundamentals that remain significantly stronger than the current market narrative would suggest.
