HCLTech: The next results could decide the direction
HCL Technologies
HCLTECH
reports its Q2 FY27 results on October 12. The market is looking for evidence that the company's revenue growth can improve without compromising profitability.
Here is what makes this quarter interesting.
Expectations going into results
Analysts expect approximately 16% year-on-year revenue growth and 12% profit growth. Sequential constant-currency revenue growth is estimated at around 2.7% to 3%, supported partly by acquisitions and project ramp-ups. These are analyst estimates, not reported results.
Four things I will examine
1. Organic growth
How much revenue growth comes from existing businesses rather than acquisitions?
2. Operating margin
Can HCLTech improve profitability after wage revisions and other operating expenses?
3. FY27 guidance
Will management maintain its existing growth outlook or revise expectations?
4. AI and deal conversion
Are new contracts translating into measurable revenue growth?
The bigger picture
HCLTech has exposure to IT services, engineering research and development, and software products. This provides multiple growth avenues, but performance across these businesses can differ considerably.
The risk is that acquisitions make the headline growth look stronger even if underlying demand remains moderate.
My view
I would not judge the result by revenue growth alone. A combination of healthy organic growth, stable margins and reassuring guidance would make the earnings outlook more credible.
A guidance reduction or weak organic growth would warrant caution.
Stance: Neutral ahead of results. I prefer to assess the numbers before taking a directional view.
