$SBIN Weekend perspective format (Broader Market Weekly Wrap)
Friday, August 7 | Five Sessions Down, Here Is What Actually Happened This Week Monday: Nifty surged 391 points as crude crashed on US-Iran peace signals, Bajaj Finance hit a 52-week high, and Eternal led index gains. Tuesday: Markets pulled back 159 points. RBI caution ahead of the policy meeting kept buyers sidelined. ITC continued its crawl near 52-week lows even as the index recovered intraday. Wednesday: RBI held rates at 5.25 per cent as expected. Sensex opened up 626 points, gave back almost all gains by close, settled up just 152 points. A textbook buy-the-rumour, sell-the-news session. Metals, auto, and realty led. Pharma gave up gains. Thursday: Markets steadied. Grasim, Shriram Finance, and L&T led gains. Bharti Airtel posted record EBITDA after market hours — Q1 FY27 revenue up 18 per cent year on year, net profit up 37 per cent. $HDFCBANK Friday — today: Sensex down 432 points, Nifty at 24,561, with Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv and Shriram Finance leading losses after RBI proposed draft norms restricting revolving credit products at NBFCs. IT is the only sector in the green — a clean rotation that captures the week's defining theme of earnings strength in tech versus regulatory risk in financials. In the broader market, Nifty MidCap was up 0.31 per cent even as the Nifty50 fell — confirming that this week's volatility was concentrated in large-cap financial names rather than being a broad market selloff. Next week: RBI's draft NBFC norms, Grasim Q1 FY27 results on August 12, Apollo Hospitals results on the same date, and continued FII flow data will set the tone
