Wipro – Q1 FY25 Performance
Wipro reported revenue of ₹22,025 crore, which declined 1.7% YoY, while net profit stood at ₹2,694 crore, down 4.6% YoY, though slightly improved 4.5% QoQ. Operating margin came in at 16%, improving by 40 basis points quarter-on-quarter, largely due to internal cost control. The company’s IT Services revenue in dollar terms declined by 2.3% YoY to $2.63 billion. While Wipro signed $3.3 billion worth of deals in total contract value, the management guided for a 1–3% sequential revenue decline in Q2, indicating continued demand softness, particularly in BFSI and technology verticals. Inference: Wipro is in the middle of a strategic pivot toward GenAI, consulting, and operational simplification. While deal wins are promising, near-term revenue pressure remains. Investors looking at Wipro may need to consider longer-term transformation potential, rather than immediate growth.
