CDSL

When I examine CDSL and BSE, I see businesses intrinsically linked to the growth story of India's capital markets. They possess enviable structural advantages, acting as crucial infrastructure that benefits immensely from the accelerating financialisation of our economy and the consistent surge in demat accounts. Their near-monopolistic positions and recurring revenue streams make them genuinely appealing over the long term. However, a cold look at their current valuations demands caution. Trading at an astronomical 68-70 times trailing earnings, the market's enthusiasm has pushed these stocks into extremely overvalued territory. While the businesses are excellent, the price certainly isn't. My view is clear: smart money doesn't chase such froth. These become compelling investment propositions only if they can be acquired at roughly half their current multiples, offering a much more sensible risk-reward profile for patient investors. At present, it's a hold, perhaps even a cautious sell, but definitely not a buy.
