RECLTD
REC, a stock often on investors' minds, presents a nuanced picture in its latest update. While key profitability metrics like interest income (up 8%) and PAT (up 10.5%) show solid year-on-year growth, underpinned by stable loan asset yields around 10.06%, there's a significant area of concern. The most pressing issue, in my view, is the underwhelming 7% year-on-year loan book growth. This pace is simply not enough to achieve management's ambitious ₹10 lakh crore target by 2030, which requires an implied 16% CAGR. This shortfall creates a considerable credibility gap for their long-term vision. On a positive note, asset quality is truly excellent, with net credit-impaired assets at a mere 0.24% and robust provision coverage at 77.06%. So, while credit risk isn't the problem, the struggle to accelerate loan growth certainly is. The market will undoubtedly be scrutinizing management's strategy to re-ignite expansion; without it, the path forward for the stock looks cloudy.
