Vidya Wires IPO
Vidya Wires, an established copper wire manufacturer, is launching its IPO. The company shows solid revenue and profit growth, with IPO funds directed towards capacity expansion and debt repayment, a smart move expected to boost future earnings. Shares are priced at ₹52, open December 3-5. However, a deeper dive uncovers significant concerns. A substantial chunk of funds is stuck in receivables, leading to consistently weak, even negative, operating cash flow. This has forced increased borrowing just to sustain operations. More troubling are indications of aggressive invoicing, raising serious questions about management's financial practices and transparency. Despite these operational red flags, the IPO's valuation at roughly 20 times forward earnings appears quite attractive compared to peers trading much higher. The underlying demand for copper wires is strong. While there's clear potential for listing gains and long-term upside, investors must thoroughly weigh this promising business against the undeniable risks in cash flow and management quality. My Opinion: The Vidya Wires IPO offers attractive valuation and industry tailwinds. However, significant cash flow issues and management's aggressive practices are major red flags. Investors should approach with extreme caution, prioritizing thorough due diligence on these operational risks despite potential listing gains.
