BEML secures a ₹5,400 crore train order..
BEML Limited (NSE: BEML) secured an order worth more than ₹5,400 crore from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation on 18 September 2026. The contract covers high-speed train supply and upkeep for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor.
The order is about 24% larger than BEML's FY26 revenue. Including this contract, its reported order book was approximately ₹21,700 crore, improving revenue visibility over the coming years.
My view: The order is significant, but order value does not automatically translate into profit or cash flow. BEML's FY26 net profit fell to ₹148 crore from ₹294 crore in FY25, while its operating margin declined from 13% to 7%. Execution costs and delivery timelines will therefore matter.
What to watch next: Monitor quarterly margins, cash flow, order execution and revenue conversion.
Stance: The order strengthens visibility, but execution and profitability remain the key tests.
