SEPC secures ₹854.57 crore SAIL contract
SEPC Limited (NSE: SEPC) secured a contract worth ₹854.57 crore from Steel Authority of India Limited for work at the IISCO Steel Plant in Burnpur, West Bengal. The reported order book has crossed ₹10,000 crore following the contract.
The order adds to SEPC's infrastructure project pipeline. Its financial impact will depend on the project timeline, execution costs, billing milestones and timely collection of payments.
My view: The contract improves the company's order visibility, but order-book size alone cannot establish financial strength. For an engineering and construction business, cash conversion and execution discipline are just as important as winning new contracts. A large project can create pressure on working capital if customer payments lag behind project expenditure.
What to watch next: Official exchange disclosures, project execution updates and quarterly operating cash flow.
