Tata Steel India deliveries grew 7.6% in Q2
Tata Steel Limited (NSE: TATASTEEL) reported 7.6% year-on-year growth in Indian steel deliveries in Q2 FY27, reaching 5.97 million tonnes. Its automotive and special products segment recorded 19% growth, with record quarterly volumes.
Why it matters: Strong domestic deliveries point to demand from automotive and construction customers. However, performance remains uneven across geographies. Tata Steel’s European operations continue to face weak demand and regulatory challenges.
My view: India’s volume growth is an encouraging operating signal, but delivery growth alone cannot establish earnings strength. Realisation per tonne, raw-material costs and the contribution from domestic operations will determine how much of this growth reaches the bottom line.
