L and Adani Energy Solutions Collaborate on 6,000 MW HVDC Transmission Project Project Overview Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has partnered with Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL), to develop a transmission system. This system will transport renewable energy from Bhadla in Rajasthan to Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, with completion targeted by 2029. Strategic Importance The project aligns with India's objective of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, enhancing grid stability and facilitating renewable energy integration. It underscores BHEL's commitment to advancing India's energy infrastructure and supports the Make in India initiative. Technical Contributions BHEL will supply critical equipment, including Converter Transformers, Shunt Reactors, and Thyristor Valves, to convert AC power at Bhadla into DC for transmission over 950 kilometers. At Fatehpur, the DC power will be reconverted to AC, ensuring efficient evacuation of renewable energy. BHEL's HVDC Experience This marks BHEL’s fourth major Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) transmission project, following the North-East Agra, Raigarh-Pugalur, and the ongoing Khavda-Nagpur HVDC links. These projects highlight BHEL's expertise in executing large-scale HVDC systems, contributing significantly to India's power transmission capabilities.
