!ITC vs Godfrey Phillips India stock: Which cigarette maker is a buy?

GODFRYPHLP
Phillips India and ITC Stock: Godfrey Phillips India and ITC are two leading listed players from the tobacco industry in India. Godfrey Phillips is known for brands like Four Square and Red & White, while ITC dominates with Gold Flake and Classic among other brands. For both companies, though they have diversified into other sectors like FMCG, tobacco remains a core business. Undoubtedly, ITC dominates with more than 70 per cent of the market share, but it has disappointed the investors as its shares are stuck in a broader range of Rs 400 to Rs 450 for long. On the other hand, Godfrey Phillips, which has emerged as the second largest tobacco and cigarette company in India, has rewarded its investors immensely by producing multibagger returns. Recently, Godfrey Phillips issued first-ever bonus share to its investors in the ratio of 2:1. Post bonus, the stock has slipped around 5 per cent. Let's understand from market experts where is the buying opportunity -- ITC or Godfrey Phillips India. ET NOW panelist and research analyst Kunal Bothra said that the fall in Godfrey Phillips India shares is not surprising. After bonus issue, it is usual for a stock to correct a bit.
