NALCO Profit Jumps 28% As Aluminium Demand Strengthens

National Aluminium Company (NALCO) has delivered a strong Q2 FY27 performance, and the numbers are worth examining. The PSU reported a 28.3% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹1,835 crore. Revenue also grew 26.3% to ₹5,419.4 crore. But here's what makes this development interesting.

NATIONALUM
NALCO operates across the aluminium value chain, from bauxite mining and alumina refining to aluminium production. This gives the company exposure to multiple stages of the aluminium business. Aluminium demand is influenced by several industries, including automobiles, construction, power and renewable energy. As infrastructure and manufacturing activity expand, aluminium consumption can benefit. However, commodity businesses also come with a major risk: prices are influenced by global supply, demand, energy costs and international market conditions. A strong quarter doesn't necessarily mean the same profit growth will continue. For investors, I would track aluminium realisations, production volumes, input costs and operating margins in the coming quarters. The interesting part of NALCO's story is its integrated business model and exposure to India's industrial growth. The real test will be whether the company can sustain its profitability across changing commodity cycles.
