AVENUE SUPERMARTS SHARES DECLINE OVER 3% AFTER BLOCK DEAL

Shares of Avenue Supermarts, the operator of the DMart retail chain, fell more than 3% on August 26 after a little over 1% of the company’s equity changed hands through a block deal. Around 69.1 lakh shares, representing approximately 1.06% of Avenue Supermarts’ outstanding equity, were traded in the transaction. Based on the prevailing market price, the stake is estimated to be worth around ₹2,600–2,700 crore. The identities of the buyers and sellers involved in the transaction were not immediately available. Avenue Supermarts shares were trading at around ₹3,781 in afternoon trade, down 3.3% from the previous close. Despite Wednesday’s decline, the stock has gained approximately 1.8% so far in 2026, outperforming the Nifty 50, which has declined 6.9% over the same period. At the current market price, Avenue Supermarts has a market capitalisation of approximately ₹2.47 lakh crore.
