Realty stocks gained up to 4% on Wednesday after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept the benchmark interest rate unchanged for the fourth consecutive monetary policy review, lifting sentiment across the sector. The Nifty Realty index was among the top performers on the NSE, rising 2.7% during the session, with eight of its 10 constituents trading in positive territory. The index rebounded after declining as much as 2.5% in the previous session. The RBI's six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), chaired by Governor Sanjay Malhotra, unanimously voted to keep the policy repo rate unchanged at 5.25% while retaining its "neutral" policy stance. Among the index constituents, Godrej Properties led the gains, rising 4.3%. DLF and Oberoi Realty advanced 2.04% and 1.95%, respectively. Prestige Estates Projects, Sobha, and Lodha Developers also traded higher, gaining between 0.6% and 2%. The RBI's decision to maintain stable borrowing costs is expected to support the real estate sector by preserving favourable financing conditions. The residential market has continued to show resilience in recent quarters, with homebuyer demand increasingly driven by product quality, location, and long-term value rather than changes in interest rates.
