MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA JUMP 4.8 PERCENT AFTER Q2
M&M Mahindra & Mahindra reported a strong performance for the second quarter of the financial year, with consolidated net profit increasing 25%. Revenue from operations also rose 25%, driven by robust growth in the company's automotive business. Following the earnings announcement, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra surged 4.8%. Despite the latest gains, the stock has declined 17.6% so far in 2026, significantly underperforming the Nifty 50, which has fallen 6.4% over the same period. The company's market capitalisation stood at approximately Rs 3.86 lakh crore. On the operational front, standalone EBITDA increased 4%, compared with Rs 6,467 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. However, operating profit growth remained relatively modest compared with the 25% increase in revenue. The company's total vehicle sales climbed 26% during the quarter, against 2,61,703 units a year earlier. In contrast, tractor sales declined 6% year-on-year. Among other group companies, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services recorded 15% growth in assets under management, while its net profit jumped 61%. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra continued its profitability improvement, reporting an EBIT margin of 14.8%. The group's Growth Gems businesses also delivered a strong performance, with net profit increasing threefold. Overall, strong automotive demand and improved contributions from group businesses supported M&M's quarterly performance, although relatively slower EBITDA growth and declining tractor sales remained key areas to watch.
