State Bank of India Reports 14.3% Growth in Q2 FY27

SBIN State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest public sector lender, reported a 14.28% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit to ₹23,038 crore for the second quarter of FY27, compared with ₹20,160 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Net Interest Income (NII) grew 14.69% to ₹49,143 crore, supported by healthy credit growth. The bank’s operating profit increased 7.28% year-on-year to ₹34,226 crore, according to its financial results announced on November 3, 2026. SBI continued to demonstrate improvement in asset quality during the September quarter. The Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPA) ratio declined to 1.39%, while the Net NPA ratio stood at 0.36%. The bank’s domestic Net Interest Margin (NIM) improved to 3.11% in Q2 FY27 from 3.00% in the preceding quarter. Lower loan-loss provisions also supported profitability, reflecting improved credit conditions and the bank’s risk-management performance. The bank maintained its focus on sustained loan growth, with advances increasing 17.84% year-on-year and deposits growing 12.27%. SBI retained its FY27 credit growth guidance of 14–15% and expects to maintain margins above 3%. While the quarterly earnings were strong, investors will continue to monitor core operating performance, credit growth, and margin sustainability in the coming quarters.
