Steel Authority of India Ldt Achieves Record Production

SAIL
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) reported record steel production during the first half of FY27, strengthening its operational performance. Between April and September 2026, the company produced 10.2 million tonnes of hot metal, 9.6 million tonnes of crude steel and 8.39 million tonnes of finished steel, registering year-on-year growth of 2%, 1% and 1%, respectively. The company also recorded its highest-ever September saleable steel sales of 1.69 million tonnes, marking a 4% increase over September 2025. High-end steel production reached approximately 2 million tonnes during H1 FY27, up 30% year-on-year. SAIL further strengthened its financial position by reducing borrowings by around ₹1,080 crore during the first half of the financial year. Going forward, investors will monitor steel demand, selling prices, raw material costs and the company’s ability to sustain production growth. SAIL’s focus on high-value steel products, operational efficiency and debt reduction could support its financial performance, although profitability will remain sensitive to steel price movements and input costs.
