Tata Group Stocks Under Pressure After N Chandrasekaran Resigns as Tata Sons Chairman

TCS
Shares of several Tata Group companies came under pressure on Wednesday after N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons, tendered his resignation earlier in the day. Chandrasekaran, however, will complete his current term and has decided not to seek reappointment. The selling pressure was also amplified by broader weakness in the equity market, with rising crude oil prices weighing on investor sentiment. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was among the biggest losers on the Nifty, with the country's largest IT services exporter falling nearly 5%. TCS shares were trading down 4.55%. Other Tata Group stocks also declined. Tata Consumer Products fell 1.60%, while Titan Company dropped 1.30%. Tata Steel and Indian Hotels Company declined 1.13% and 1.04%, respectively. Shares of Tata Technologies, Tata Investment Corporation and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles also came under pressure, falling by up to 1%. The development follows an earlier decision by Tata Sons in February to postpone a call on Chandrasekaran's reappointment as chairman. According to a previous Reuters report, Noel Tata, chairman of Tata Trusts, had opposed the move. The resignation has put Tata Group stocks in focus as investors assess the potential implications for the group's leadership and succession plans.
