MIDHANI Gains on GE Aerospace Approval
Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI) shares gained sharply after the company became the first Indian firm to receive GE Aerospace’s S400 approval for its Independent & International Metallic Material Laboratory. The approval allows MIDHANI’s laboratory to undertake chemical, mechanical and metallurgical testing of metallic materials as per GE Aerospace’s stringent standards. This is strategically important for MIDHANI as it strengthens the company’s position in the global aerospace supply chain. The development also assumes significance amid India’s growing focus on indigenous defence manufacturing and the planned production of GE Aerospace’s F414 engines in India. MIDHANI’s expertise in specialised aerospace alloys and high-performance materials could create opportunities for deeper participation in future aerospace programmes. Importantly, the S400 approval is not a fresh GE Aerospace order. However, the qualification can potentially improve MIDHANI’s eligibility for future business from GE and other global aerospace customers. Along with the approval, MIDHANI’s strong recent financial performance and a healthy order book have further supported investor sentiment. Market View: The development is positive for MIDHANI’s long-term aerospace and defence opportunity, although investors should watch for actual order wins and revenue contribution before assigning a larger valuation premium. $MIDHANI
