VEDANTA: ₹3,500 CRORE NCD FUNDRAISE APPROVED
Key Update
Vedanta has approved the issuance of up to 3.5 lakh unsecured, rated, listed and redeemable NCDs.
Maximum fundraise: ₹3,500 crore.
Face value: ₹1 lakh per NCD.
The issue will be made through private placement, in one or more tranches.
The move is part of the company’s debt/fund-raising programme. The board had earlier scheduled a meeting to consider a debt issue.
What are NCDs?
NCDs are debt instruments through which a company borrows money from investors and pays interest according to the agreed terms. Since this is a private placement, the securities are offered to selected investors rather than through a public issue.
Key Risk Factors
Higher borrowings can increase interest and debt-servicing obligations.
Vedanta remains exposed to commodity-price cycles.
Actual impact depends on the coupon rate, tenure and utilisation of funds.
