Aster DM Quality Care: Can merger synergies lift returns?
ASTERDM Aster DM Quality Care Limited (ASTERDM) began operations as a merged entity on July 1, 2026, combining Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India. The platform now operates 39 hospitals across 28 cities with over 10,600 beds. What happened? The merger creates a larger hospital network combining Aster DM, CARE Hospitals, KIMSHEALTH and Evercare. On a combined proforma basis, Q1 FY27 revenue grew 20% YoY to ₹2,597 crore and operating EBITDA rose 30% to ₹576 crore. EBITDA margin improved 170 bps to 22.2%. Why it matters: The key opportunity is operating leverage. A larger network can improve procurement, referrals and utilisation while spreading central costs across more hospitals. My view: The early numbers are encouraging, but the merger thesis will be tested by actual synergy gains. I would focus less on headline revenue growth and more on whether margins and ROCE continue improving as the combined network is integrated. What I’m watching: Bed additions, occupancy, EBITDA margin, ROCE and synergy realisation over the next 4–6 quarters. Stance: Positive on the operating opportunity, but execution and capital efficiency remain the key triggers. Disclosure: I am a SEBI Registered Research Analyst.
