How do global conflicts influence financial systems?

Global conflicts can destabilize financial systems through market uncertainty, disruption of trade, and inflationary pressures. Wars and geopolitical tensions often cause investors to flee to safe-haven assets like gold or U.S. Treasury bonds, increasing volatility in stock markets. Disruptions in commodity supplies, such as oil or wheat, can lead to price spikes that fuel inflation worldwide. Financial sanctions imposed during conflicts can isolate economies, disrupting international banking and payment systems. Additionally, governments may increase defense spending, diverting funds from social programs and increasing national debt. In conflict zones, infrastructure destruction hampers economic activity, while global investor confidence can waver, affecting both developed and emerging markets negatively.
